The Mikimoto Pearl Crown, named and created by the famous jewelry company Mikimoto, the official jeweler of the emperor of Japan, was donated to the United States in 1957 and has been used every year since to crown the U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen.

Ms. Keene has been a supporter of the NCSS Cherry Blossom Program for more than 50 years.  In addition to her support, she has also been has also been the Japan Embassy Liaison for NCSS. Ms. Keene also runs a Japanese dollmaking and craft school.
