Kakehashi Program
In Japanese, kakehashi means building bridges. The KAKEHASHI Project is a government-funded grassroots exchange program that brings groups of North Americans to Japan for engaging, focused and customized experiences.
In 2024 NCSS partnered with the Japanese Embassy and the Kakehashi program to have two of our Cherry Blossom Delegates particpate in the program. The US 2022 Cherry Blossom Queen Sarah Eustace and the 2023 Runner Up Carlisle Cooper were chosen to participate.
In 2025 the Kakehashi program will send 4 delegates of the program for a 10 day trip to Japan. The delegates are: Inuri Abeysekara – VT the essay winner from the program; Shannon Maharajh – FL; Morgan Johnson – PA and Alexandra Evers – RI.
We look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return from thier trip in a couple of months.
